چکیده

Results HDM-allergic individuals suffering from asthma showed striking differences regarding their IgE reactivity profiles compared to the non-asthmatic group. First, the frequency of IgE reactivity to the tested HDM allergens was up to 3fold higher in the asthmatic than in the non-asthmatic group. Seventy percent of the asthmatics reacted with 3 to 6 of the tested allergens compared to only 45% in the nonasthmatic group. Furthermore, IgE-levels to nDer p 1, rDer p 2, rDer p 5 and rDer p 23 were significantly higher in the asthmatic group. In contrast, HDM-allergic asthma patients showed a lower IgG-binding frequency to the seven HDM allergens than HDM-allergic patients without asthma. Conclusion The IgE and IgG reactivity profiles to HDM allergens differ considerably in patients with mild (i.e., rhinitis) and severe (i.e., asthma) respiratory symptoms due to HDM allergy.

C3-containing IgE immune complexes in asthmatic patients.

Higher levels of IgE-containing immune complexes (IC) have been reported in sera from patients with allergic diseases than in sera from controls. To evaluate the possibility of an IC-mediated mechanism in the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma, we measured circulating C3-containing IgE IC (C3-IgE IC) using anti-C3 ELISA from 20 house dust mite (HDM)-sensitive asthmatics, 20 non-atopic asthmatics,...

Serum IgE Reactivity Profiling in an Asthma Affected Cohort

BACKGROUND Epidemiological evidence indicates that atopic asthma correlates with high serum IgE levels though the contribution of allergen specific IgE to the pathogenesis and the severity of the disease is still unclear. METHODS We developed a microarray immunoassay containing 103 allergens to study the IgE reactivity profiles of 485 asthmatic and 342 non-asthmatic individuals belonging to f...

Background and purpose: Âsthma is a chronic disease that is classified in two types, Âllergic and non-Âllergic. Ïn allergic type allergens such as fungi induce asthmatic reactions. Ünlike the most common allergens such as mite, pollen and chemicals, fungal spore, as an allergen is ubiquitous and present in different seasons. The aim of this study was the determine the incidence of ÏgË to comm...

Serum levels of IL-17A increase in Asthma but not in accordance with Serum level of IgE and Asthma Severity

Background and Aims: Recent evidence suggests that T helper (Th) 17 cells are involved in the emergence of asthma. Th17 cells have a key role in inducing inflammation in asthmatic airways thus Interleukin (IL)-17A, the main cytokine of Th17, contributes to airways inflammation. Materials and Methods: We evaluated the level of IL-17A and total immunoglobulin E (IgE) in sera of 100 asthmatic p...

Effect of hyposensitization upon the immediate and late asthmatic reaction and upon histamine reactivity in patients allergic to house dust mite (Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus).

The effect of hyposensitization (HS) upon the allergen evoked immediate asthmatic reaction (IAR), late asthmatic reaction (LAR) and upon bronchial reactivity towards histamine was examined. Eighteen young asthmatic patients were studied using a double-blind, placebo-controlled design. All were allergic to house dust mite (HDM) and demonstrated an IAR and a LAR after bronchial provocation with H...
